Guru Bhagavan

The Devas, when churning the paarkadal for nectar, were hindered by the poisonous fumes from the snake Vasuki and prayed to Lord Siva for deliverance. Lord Siva consumed the deadly poison (Ala Visham), thus giving rise to the name Alangudi to this sthalam and the Lord came to be called Aabathsagayar.

Lord Ganesha subdued Gajamuhasuran who gave the Devas a horrid time and he is thus worshipped in this sthalam as 'Kalangaamal kaatha Vinayagar'. Ambal undertook severe penance and married Lord Siva and hence this place is hailed as Thirumana Mangalam. This sthalam is the Parivara sthalam for Madhyarjuna Mahalinga Peruman. This is the fourth amongst the Panchavarunya Sthalas. Vishwamithrar, Thirumal, Brahma, Lakshmi, Garuda, Ashta Thikku Balagas, Ayyanar, Veera Badrar, Mukunda Chakravarthy, Suvasanan, Sundarar have worshipped at this sthala.

Lord Siva as a ferryman(boatman) was helping Sundaramurthy Swamigal cross the river (Vettaru) which was in spate, to reach this sthalam. The boat capsized hitting a rock, when halfway. Lord siva seated on his Rishaba Vahana helped him reach the sthala safely. Sundarar received his Gnanaupadesam after his darshanam of Dakshinamurthy at this sthala. Fame, wealth, siblings are the beneficial aspects of Guru. The sthlam of Guru Bhagavan is Alangudi, 17 kms from Kumbakonam enroute to Mannargudi. His wives are Tharai, Sangini. The presiding deities are Kasi Aaranyeswarar and his consort Elavarkuzhali. Guru is the Lord of Dhanusu and Meena Rasi and he faces North direction. The Adi Devatha is Brahma and the Prathyathi Devatha is Indran. His colour is yellow and his vahana is elephant. The grain associated with him is kadalai; the flower - white mullai; fabric - yellow cloth; gem - pushparagam (white topaz); food - rice mixed with bengal gram dhal powder.

Sukra Bhagavan

The presiding deity Agneeswarar is the embodiment of Sukran. Sukrachariar was the Guru of asuras. He had got the blessings from Lord Siva after severe penances. In the Vamana Avataram of Lord Vishnu, Vamana sought three foot steps of land from Mahabali, an asura king. Realising Vamana to be no mere mortal, Sukrachariyar assumed the form of a bee and tried to block the flow of water from the kamandalam. Vamana picking up a pavithram blinds Sukracharya in one eye while trying to unclog the hole in the kamandalam.

Sukracharyar has the prowess to bring the dead to living by virtue of his knowledge of Amirtha Sanjeevini Mantra. Using this mantra, in the asura war against the devas, he revived the slain asuras. This helped the asura army swell. The devas prayed to Lord Siva for help, who swallowed up Sukracharya in a fit of rage. After residing in Lord SIva's stomach in a siddha state, he emerged from Lord Siva's stomach.

Sukra endows those who pray to him with wealth, pleasure, wife, prosperity, vehicles. He is the next most beneficial planet after Guru. If in a person's horoscope, Sukra is well placed, then the person will enjoy pleasure, beautiful wife, wealth, house, vehicle, good food, fame, love, affection, marraige, siblings, governmental help, chance to govern the country/state and hold influential status.

If in a bad position, the ward will experience a family devoid of love and ties, bad life, enimity amongst family and friends, Kalathira dosham. By praying to Sukra these problems could be mitigated. Wife, arts, sculpture, love, vehicles are the beneficial aspects of Sukra.

The sthalam of Sukra Bhagavan is Kanjanur, which is located 3kms from Suryanar koil, enroute to Mayavaram. His wives are Subakirthi, Sundari and Sringini. The presiding deity are Agneeswarar and his consort Iswari. He is the Lord of Rishaba and Thula Rasi and faces East direction. The Adi Devatha is Indra's physician. His colour is white; his vahana is the crocodile; the grain associated with him is mochai; the flower - white lotus; fabric - white cloth; gem - diamond; food - rice mixed with mochai powder.

Surya Bhagavan

Kalava Munivar had foreseen his future and relised that he would suffer from leprosy. He prayed to the Navagrahas, who being pleased with his devotion absolved him of the disease. Brahma Deva on realising that the Navagrahas were granting boons, instead of aspecting a person as per his/her good and bad deeds, condemned them to suffer from leprosy and banished them to earth.
The Navagrahas realising their mistake, pleaded for mercy. Brahma adviced them to seek the blessings of Lord Sva and his consort Uma Devi residing at Thirumangalakudi, after bathing in the holy river, Cauvery. He adviced them to consume only curd rice laid on Velerukku leaf.

Lord Siva, pleased with their devotion absolved them of their sins and decried that there will be nine sannadhis for the navagrahas in the Suryanar temple (this is the only temple where all the navagrahas are present with separate sannadhis) and those who pray here will get relief from their problems.

Those who suffer the ill effects of Kalathara Dosham, Vivaha Paribandha Dosham, Puthra Dosham, Puthra Paribandha Dosham, Vidhya Paribandha Dosham, Udyoga Padhibandha Dosham, Surya dasai, Surya bukthi would benefit from worshipping at this temple. Father, Athma, physical strength, right eye, governmental largesse are the beneficial aspects of this planet. The Suryanar temple is located 12kms from Kumbakonam enroute to Mayavaram. Surya's wives are Usha, Prathyusha. The presiding deities are Puranavaradheeswarar and his consort Mangalanayaki. Surya is the Lord of Simma Rasi and occupies the central place amongst the navagrahas. The adidevatha is Agni, prathyutha Devatha - Rudran. His colour is red and his vahana is a chariot drawn by seven horses. The grain associated with his is wheat; the flower - lotus, yerukku; fabric - red clothes; gem - ruby; food - wheat, rava, chakkara pongal.

Saniwara Bhagavan

Sani Bhagavan waiting to aspect Nala, noticed that he had not washed the back portion of his feet, while preparing for his prayers. Deciding this was the opportune time, he aspected Nala. Because of this, Nala lost his composure and lost his kingdom to Pudkaran in a game of dice and sent his children to their uncle's house. Nala departed to the forest with his wife Damayanti. Saneeswaran created trouble even there and made Nala desert his wife in the forest. The snake Karkotagan bit Nala, making him lose his stature (was made to look ugly). He took on the job of a charioteer with king Irudhupannan. Damayanti, in the meantime reached the kingdom of her father, and arranged a Swayamvara to locate Nala. Damyanti identified Nala, the charioteer as her husband. Thanks to a boon from Karkodagan, Nala regained his old form. In spite of being back with his wife, Nala feeling very disturbed, sought the solace of sage Bharadwaja and on his advice reached Thirunallar. He bathed in the Brahma Thirtham of the temple, and when he entered the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, Saneeswaran departed from him.

Saneeswaran resides in each Rasi for a period of 2 1/2 years. When Saneeswaran resides in the 12th, 1st and 2nd house, it is 7 1/2 Naatu Sani ; when in the 4th house, it is Arthashtama Sani; when in the 8th house, it is Ashtama Sani. During these periods, he troubles the native.

Problems from Govt., peers, wife, children, slowdown in business, loss of property, leprosy are caused by transit of Sani.

In a person's life, 7 1/2 Naatu Sani aspects thrice, the first called Mangu Sani, the second called Pongu Sani and the third called Marana Sani.

Saneeswaran is reputed to be both, a giver and destroyer. A person who prays to Saneeswaran will be blessed with not only riddance from the problems and worries faced, but a life that one desires.

The sthalam of Sani Bhagavan is Thirunallaru, which is located 3kms from Karaikal, enroute to Peralam. His wives are Neela Devi and Manga Devi. The presiding deities are Dharbaranyeswarar (Swaymbumurti) and his consort Bogamartha Poon Mulayal. He is the Lord of Maharam and Kumba Rasis and faces the West direction. IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER FOR STUDYING HOROSCOPE

All Planets move from one Rasi to the other in clockwise direction and Rahu and Kethu always move in anti-clockwise direction.

THE ORDER OF STRENGTH OF THE PLANETS

Rahu and Kethu – Strongest
Surya
Chandra
Sukra

Sani
Kuja
Budha -- Weakest

THE ORDER OF POSITIONAL STRENGTH OF THE PLANETS

Exaltation Sign (UCHA STHANA) -- Strongest

Friendly Sign (MITHRU STHAN)
Neutral Sign
Enimical Sign (SATRUSTHANA)
Debilitation Sign (NEECHASTHANA)-Weakest

COMBUSTION OF PLANET (ASTANGATHA)

If a planet and Sun are in the same quarter of a Star, then that Planet is said to be in Combustion. A combust planet is capable to produce common type of results. It is true that a combust planet is week. But it is not true that its effects become nil. Venus and Mercury have no Astanga Dosha.

PLANETORY WAR (GRAHA YUDHHA)

Except Sun, if any planet is in association with MARS (KUJA) then that plane is said to be in planetary war.

DEFEATED PLANET

When a planet is in association with an enemy planet and its degrees are less than that of enemy planet then that planet is said to be a defeated planet.

WINNING PLANET

When a planet is in association with an enemy planet and its degrees are more than that of enemy planet, then that planet is said to be a winning planet.

8. RETROGRESSION OF PLANETS (VAKRATHWA)

Generally all planets move from one Rasi to the other Rasi in clockwise direction and Rahu and Kethu moving in anti-clockwise direction. Some times we see that a planet, instead of moving in clockwise direction in the Zodiac seems to be moving in anti-clockwise direction. Whenever a planet is moving in anti-clockwise direction in the Zodiac, it is said to be in retrogression.

Sun and moon will never Retrograde
Rahu and Kethu are always in Retrogression.

RETRO-DIRECT MOTION

Whenever a planet assumes retrograde motion in a Zodiacal sign, continue to move in anti-clockwise motion in that particular sign for some time, stops its anti-clockwise motion and returns to its original position with clockwise motion. Till the planet returns to the exact longitude in degrees, minutes, seconds where from it became retrograde, it is said to be retro-direct motion. It is only after it moves clockwise from the exact location of retrogression that is said to be in direct motion.

STATIONARY PLANETS (STAMBANA)

The planets seem to remain stationary for some time after being in motion. This planetary condition is known as STAMBANA.

Generally the signs are counted clockwise from Mesha to Meena, in Rasi chart used in Tamilnadu. The signs are counted anti-clockwise from Mesha to Meena in Rasi Chart used in Andhra Pradesh and North India.

11. Rahu and Kethu will be moving always 180 deg opposite from each other in the Zodiac. Mercury is always moving either in the same sign or 12th sign or 2nd sign from Sun. It will never move away more than one sign either in the rear or in the front side from Sun. Venus will be always moving between 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 11th or 12th sign from Sun. It will never move away more than two signs either in the rear or in the front side from Sun.

12. Before making an attempt to predict, it is desirable to verify three or four past events of the natives live. This will be of use to gauge the strength of the planets as well as the correctness of the planetary position. In a way this will be helpful to correct the planetary positions as Almanacs or Panchanga’s differ in giving planetary position.

13. NATAL CHART

Natal Chart means Birth Chart. This is prepared based on the time, date, month, and year of Birth of the native.

TRANSIT CHART

This chart is prepared at the time of consultation i.e. the time, date, month and year of consultation.

PARIVARTHANA YOGA (PLANETARY EXCHANGE)

We know the ruling planet of each Rasi. Some times we can observe that the planet (A) is occupying the Rasi owned by the planet (B) and the planet (B) occupies the Rasi owned by the planet (A). This phenomenon is called planetary exchange or Parivarthana Yoga in astrology.

For example:

When Mars is located in Venus’s house VRISHABHA and Venus is located in Mars’s house VRICHIKA, it is understood that the planet Mars and Venus are involved in Planetary exchange. This yoga is given more importance in Nadi astrology, because unexpected events take place due this Parivarthana yoga.

NADI RULES

Weak planets: The planets are said to be weak, if

The planet is in debilitation
The plane is defeated
The planet is in enemies house
The planet is in between two enemy planets
The planet is in association with Rahu and Kethu
The planet is in Combustion
The planet is in association with enemy planets
The planet is aspected by enemy planets.

STRONG PLANETS

The planets are said to be strong if
The planet is in exaltation
The planet is winning
The planet is in friendly house
The planet is in between two friendly planets
The planet is in own sign
The planet is in association with friendly planets
The planet is aspected by friendly planets

A planet will always give Karakatva results of the conjoining (or) aspecting planets.

Irrespective of the Sign in which a planet is located it will give beneficial results if friendly planets are aspecting the considered planet from the following places.
1 – 5 – 9 (Same direction) from considered planet
3 – 7 – 11 (Opposite direction) from considered planet
2 - 12 (front and rear) from considered planet
It will give bad results if enemy planets are aspecting the considered planet from the above places.

If a planet is not conjoined with or aspected by any other planet (the above aspects) it will give the Karakatva results of Rasi (Lord) in which it is placed.

Even though a planet is not conjoined with or aspected by any other planet, it will give beneficial results, if it is involved in planetary exchange with friendly planet and conjoins the friendly planet or getting the aspect of friendly planet after exchanging the house. It will give bad results if it is involved in planetary exchange with enemy planet and conjoins the enemy planet or getting the aspect of enemy planet after exchanging the house.

Whenever a planet is located in the same star pada in which Sun is located, it is said to be in combustion. The planet will not give much result. If the combust planet involved in planetary exchange with friendly planet or conjoining the friendly planet or getting the aspect of friendly planet after exchanging the house. It will give beneficial result. If the combusted planet is involved in planetary exchange with enemy planet or conjoining an enemy planet or getting the aspect of enemy planet after exchanging the house, it will give bad results.

When a debilitated planet is involved in planetary exchange and conjoins the friendly planet or getting the aspect of friendly planet after exchanging the house, we must assume that the debilitation is cancelled (Neechabhanga). If it conjoins enemy planet or getting the aspect of enemy planet after exchanging the house, it will give bad results.

Even though a planet is in debilitation, if friendly planets are aspecting the debilitated planet from the following places you must assume that the debilitation is cancelled.

1 – 5 - 9 (same direction) from debilitated planet
3 – 7 – 11 (opposite direction) from debilitated planet
2 – 12 (front and rear) from debilitated planet
If enemy planets are aspecting the debilitated planet from the above places, it will give bad results only.

When an exalted planed is involved in planetary exchange and conjoins an enemy planet or getting the aspect of an enemy planet after exchanging the house, it will give bad results. Hence we have to assume that the exaltation is cancelled. (Uchabhanga). If it conjoins a friendly planet or getting the aspect of friendly planet after exchanging the house, it will give beneficial results.

A retrograde planet will always aspect the rear sign with half aspect.

Retrograde planet will give beneficial results if a friendly planet is placed in 12th sign from retro planet. It will give bad results if an enemy planet is placed in 12th sign from retro planet.

If a debilitated planet is in retro motion and if a friendly planet is placed in 12th sign from retro planet it will give beneficial results. Hence, we have to assume that the debilitation is cancelled. If an enemy planet is placed in 12th sign from the retro planet, it will give bad results only.

If an exalted planet is in retro motion and an enemy planet is placed in 12th sign from retro planet it will give bad results. If a friendly planet is placed in the 12th sign from retro planet it will give good results only.

If a planet is placed along with Rahu then that planet looses its strength. Even if it is a exalted planet.

TRANSIT RESULTS

According to traditional astrology, the movement of the planets through twelve rasis of Zodiac from natal moon (Janma Rasi) or the JANMA LAGNA of the native is called Gochara or transit. According to the position of a transit planet from natal moon or lagna in the birth chart, the effects will change. We read that the Jupiter in the 2nd from natal moon gives rewards, profit and gain of money. Saturn in the 2nd from the natal moon gives sorrows and accidents. These are only general principles. These principles will not be applied to our charts. The yogas (combinations) present in the horoscope will become operative, during the transit of the slow moving planets Saturn and Jupiter and other slow moving planets Rahu and Ketu.

Jupiter is dharma karaka, he represents the free will of the person. Therefore Jupiter will give the personnel result according to the sign he transits and the aspect he receives from natal planet. Jupiter will indicate the desire or the ambition of the person according to the nature of the planet aspecting from birth chart. Saturn is karma karaka, he represents the fate of the person. Therefore Saturn will give the results which are the rewards of the karmas performed in the previous birth. It will be a good result if the person has performed good karmas, it will be a bad result if the person has performed a bad karma in his previous birth. The effect of the planets will be felt only when the transit planets and the planets in the birth chart interact with each other. If the transit planet is not associated or aspected by any natal planet then there will not be any significant event in the person’s life. Actually the karakathwa, result of the aspecting natal planet will be felt when the transit planets especially Saturn and Jupiter receives such aspects. The age of the person must be kept in the mind while giving the timing of the events. When natal Venus aspects transit Jupiter the person will get married. This result is applicable only to the unmarried people. If he is a married person, for the same aspect we have to predict that there will be a birth of daughter. When natal Mercury is aspecting transit Jupiter, the person will do well in studies. If we give this prediction to a 2 year old child or to very old person it will not be applicable. Therefore, while giving prediction we must take the age of person into consideration.

It must be kept in the mind that the transiting planet may get the aspect of natal planets either from the same sign in which he is transiting or 2nd , 3rd , 5th , 7th , 9th , 11th or 12th from transiting sign. For example, Saturn is transiting Mesha ,in natal chart If Mars is Posited in Mesha itself in the natal chart or in the following places i.e ,Vrishaba, which is 2nd from Mesha, Mithuna which 3rd from Mesha, Simha which is 5th from Mesha, Tula which is 7th from Mesha, Dhanus which is 9th from Mesha, Kumba which is 11th from Mesha, Meena which 12th from Mesha, the same result will be felt during the transit i.e., the person will be troubled by enemies but the percentage of the result will differ according to the aspect.

If aspect is from the same sign, then the result will be 100%. If the aspect is from the 2nd sign, then the result is 75%, from the 3rd sign 50%, from 5th sign 75%, from 7th sign 50%, from 9th sign 75%, from 11th sign 50% and from 12th sign 25%.

Example:

In the above chart, in the year 1998, when Jupiter was transiting Meena rasi, the native got married. If we observe closely, in the above birth chart, Venus is in Cancer, which is 5th sign from Meena, therefore the transit Jupiter located in Meena gets the aspect of natal Venus located in Cancer in the birth chart. when transit Jupiter is aspected by natal Venus, marriage will take place.

Example:

In the above chart, in the year 1989, when Saturn was transiting Dhanus rasi, the native got appointment in Govt. Dept. In the birth chart Guru and Chandra both are in Simha rasi, which is 9th sign from Dhanus. Therefore the transit Sani located in Dhanus gets the aspect of natal Jupiter and Moon located in Simha. when transit Saturn is aspected by natal Jupiter, the person will get a job or promotion. When transit Saturn is aspected by natal Moon, the person will have change of place. Therefore, the native got appointment in a different place.

Example:

In the above chart, in the year 1995 when Saturn was transiting Kumba rasi, the native faced lot of difficulties. Since natal Mars was aspecting transit Saturn from Simha rasi which is 7th from Kumbha rasi, natal Ketu was also aspecting transit Saturn from Meena rasi which is 2nd from Kumba rasi. However, natal Venus aspect over transit Saturn gave her some money through other means.

HOW TO ANALYSE THE HOROSCOPE

To analyze the horoscope the following three methods are generally followed:

Based on Bhava Karakatwa (house significance)
Based on Bhava Karakatwas and Nakshatras
Based on Graha Karakatwas (planetary significance)

About the first and second method, many books have been already written by different authors. Few authors only have written about the third method. In my own experience, I found that the third method is very simple, easiest and accurate and this is the method the NADI Astrologers are following while giving predictions. In this method of prediction, Nakshatra, Lagna and Bhavas are not given any importance, planets and their significance (Karakatwas) are only given more importance. Because in Hindu astrology, we have assumed that the signs and stars does not move, where as the planets are constantly moving in the Zodiac. It is only due to the movement of planets, the different changes occur in human life. Actually the changes occurs when the planets interacts with each other, otherwise there will not be any planetary effect on human being, Either a planet should have conjunction with other planets or a planet should be aspected by some other planets, Then only the aspected planet will yield specific results otherwise the planet will not yield any result. This is the principle followed in NADI astrology. It is to be kept in mind that we do not analyse the Horoscope by considering the Nakshatras and Bhavas. We consider only the Karakatwas of the planets for prediction.

We know that if two planets are in same sign, it will be considered that they are in conjunction. If a planets is placed in the seventh sign from the other it is considered that they are aspecting each other. In addition to the above, the NADI system considers the planets which are placed in the same direction are said to be in conjunction. The planets which are placed in opposite direction will aspect each other. The planets which are placed in the front sign and rear sign of a planet will strengthen or weaken the planet based on the friendship or enmity between them.

Same direction 1, 5, 9 from considered signifactor
Opposite direction 3, 7, 11 from considered signifactor
Front & rear signs 2, 12 from considered signifactor

Here, we must understand that the aspecting planets will give their Karakatwa result to the aspected planet.

Ist Step:
First decide what subject you want to analyse and select the correct signifactor (karaka) which is relevant to the subject under consideration

For example:

To know the character and appearance of the person
Consider Guru as Jeevakaraka for males
Sukra as a Jeevakaraka for Females
For profession, consider Sani
For education consider Budha

IInd step:
From considered signifactor see any planet is located in the following places.
1,5,9 (same direction) from the considered significator
3,7,11 (opp. direction) from the considered significator.
2,12 (front and rear) from considered significator

If any planet is located in the above places, then that planet will aspect the considered significator. The aspecting planets will give their Karakatva result to the considered significator. For example, let us consider Guru as Jeevakaraka. If Surya is aspecting Guru, then the character of the native will be given as below:
Reliable, philanthropic, popular, social worker, simple in nature, open hearted, short tempered,

if Budha is aspecting Guru, then, the character of the person will be given as below:
Intelligent, softspoken, witty and humorous, etc. If more than one planet is aspecting Guru, then the native will have mixed character. In this manner, we can find out the character and appearance of the other family members also, education, carrier, disease and marriage of the native also can be analysed by considering the appropriate significator (karaka). I request the reader to get well versed with the nature of rasis and Karakatvas of planets before venturing in to prediction.

Example 1:

In the above chart, let us consider GURU as Jeevakaraka because the native is a male and analyse the character and appearance of the person.
Guru is located in Simha along with Budha (same direction)
There are no planets in the 5th from Guru (same direction)
There are no planets in the 9th from Guru (same direction)
There are no planets in 3rd from Guru (opposite direction)
There are no planets in 7th from Guru (opposite direction)
Sukra is located in 11th from Guru (opposite direction)
There are no planets in the 2nd from Guru (front sign)
Surya and Chandra are located in 12th sign from Guru (rear sign)

Therefore we have to follow the combinations as follows:
GURU + BUDHA
GURU + SUR
GURU + CHAND
GURU + SUR

As Budha is aspecting Guru (from same sign) the native will be intelligent. As Surya is aspecting Guru (from 12th sign) the native will be popular. As Chandra is aspecting Guru (from 12th sign) the native will be settling in a different place.

As SUK is aspecting Guru (from 11th sign) the native will look handsome, he will be fond of luxury.

As three female plants Chandra, Sukra, Budha are aspecting Guru, he will be always surrounded by females. Many females will be after him. As the indicator of Skin, Budha is aspected by Chandra he will have some skin disease, (Chandra in 12th sign from Budha). As the indicator of forehead, Budha is aspected by Guru he will have bald head. (Budha and Guru both are in the same sign). As the indicator of teeth, Kuja is aspected by Rahu he will have uneven teeth settings (Rahu is in the 9th sign from Kuja, same direction).

Example 2:

Guru is located alone in Vrishaba
Surya is located in the 5th sign from Guru (same direction)
KETU is located in the 9th sign from Guru (same direction)
RAHU is located in the 3rd sign from Guru (opposite direction)
(but Rahu and Ketu will not aspect the opposite signs)
SANI is located in the 7th sign from Guru (opposite direction)
There are no planets in the 11th sign from Guru (opposite direction)
There are no planets in 2nd and 12th sign from Guru (from and rear)

As Surya is aspecting Guru from 5th sign, the native was very popular, he was a social worker, he became the father of the nation. He was philanthropic, he was self sacrificing in nature. As Ketu is aspecting Guru from the 9th sign, he was more religious, . He was settling the disputes, (Ketu is a karaka for dispute). He was leading very simple life. His inclination was to attain moksha by serving the people, by serving the nation.

Example 3:

In the above chart let us consider Guru as a Jeevakaraka because the native is a male and analyse the character and appearance of the person.

Chandra is located in the 12th sign from Guru (Rear sign)
There are no planets in the 2nd sign from Guru (Front sign)

Kuja and Sani, both are located in the 9th sign from Guru (same direction)

PARIVARTHANA YOGA (PLANETORY EXCHANGE)

We know that nine planets own the twelve rasis, and we know the owner (or) ruler of each rasi. Sometimes it so happens that the planet A will occupy the house sign owned by planet B and the planet B will occupy the house (or) sign owned by planet A during their motion. This phenomenon is called planetory exchange (or) Parivarthana yoga in astrology.

Example (1)

In the above chart Surya is located Dhanus and Guru is located in Simha. The owner of Dhanus rasi is Guru. The owner of Simha rasi is Surya. Therefore it is evident that the planets Surya and Guru both are involved in planetary exchange.

The unexpected events, may be good (or) bad will take place in natives life, if parivarthana yoga is present in natives horoscope (or) some sudden changes will take place. Therefore while analyzing the horoscope, astrologer must give importance to this parivarthana yoga. The meaning of this yoga must be carefully studied. Let us analyse some horoscopes in which parivarthana yoga is present.

In the above chart Guru and Kethu are located in Simha. As Guru is along with Kethu in the same sign the native will have religious thought. He will be doing spiritual sadanas. Surya, Sukra and Chandra all these three planets are located in Meena Rasi in the above chart. Here Surya is located in Gurus sign Meena and Guru is located in Suryas sign Simha there fore it is evident that the planet Surya and Guru both are involved in planetary exchange and they are friendly with each other. The Jeevakaraka Guru is located along with Kethu. Therefore the native is a Sanyasi because Ketu is Mokshakaraka. Surya is a politician. Due to planetary exchange, Guru will come to Meena Rasi, there he will meet Sukra and Chandra both are female planets. Sukra and Chandra both are beautiful ladies. Since Sukra is in exaltation sign, they are rich ladies.

A politician will introduce these ladies to a Sanyasi, the sanyasi will lose his self control and fall prey to these attractive ladies because of this parivarthana yoga. Therefore in the first part of the life the native will lead a life of sanyasi. In the second part of life he will be after attractive ladies losing his self control.

Example 3:

In the above chart, Surya is located in Sukras sign Tula and Sukra is located in Surya’s sign Simha. Therefore it is evident that the planets Surya and Sukra both are involved in planetary exchange. The native of this horoscope is a female. Jeeva karaka Sukra is located in Simha along with Chandra and Rahu. Chandra is a karaka for adultry and Rahu is the karaka for secret affairs. Therefore this lady will have secret affairs with many people. Due to planetary exchange when Sukra comes Thula rasi, there Sukra will join Kuja. Guru will aspect Sukra from Mesha (7th aspect). Ketu is karaka for vairagya. Guru is a karaka for spiritual leader. Ketu is a karaka for moksha. Therefore the native meets spiritual guru unexpectedly. He advises her to change her way of life and guides her in the spiritual path. In the first part of the life the native will be almost like a prostitute. In the second part of the life she will develop vairagya due to the grace of spiritual guru and she will practice spiritual sadana.

KARTHARI YOGA

If a planet is hemmed between two planets in the horoscope then the Karthari yoga is said to be present in that horoscope. The Karthari yoga is present in the horoscope, if
Three planets are located in successive sign in serial order
Three planets are located in successive star padas in serial order
Three planets are located in the same sign but in successive degrees in serial order
Three planets are located in the same direction, either in successive star pada (or) in successive degree in serial order.

Guru is in 200 of Mesha, Surya is in 1000 of Simha and Kuja is in 1500 of Dhanus. Here, Surya is hemmed between Budha and Kuja.

RETROGRESSION OF PLANETS

Generally, all planets move from one Rasi to the other in clock-wise direction. Rahu and Ketu move in anti clock-wise direction. Sometimes, we see that a planet, instead of moving in clock-wise direction in the Zodiac seems to be moving in anti clock-wise direction. Whenever a planet is moving in anti clock-wise direction in the Zodiac, it is said to be in Retrogression. Sun and Moon will never retrograde. Rahu and Ketu are always in retrogression.

A retrograding planet will always aspect the rear sign with half aspect. A retrograding planet will give beneficial results, if a friendly planet is placed in the 12th Sign from retro planet. It will give bad results if an enemy planet is placed in the 12th Sign from retro planet. So, let us analyze few example charts.

Example 1:

In the above chart, Guru is in retrogression in Kataka Rasi. Ketu is located in the 9th Sign (Same Direction) from Guru. Ketu is Mokshakaraka and he is aspecting Guru. Sukra and Chandra, both are beautiful ladies. Guru is running towards Sukra in retrogression. Therefore, the native, a sanyasi is running after beautiful ladies.

Ex 2:

In the above chart, Guru is in retrogression in Kataka Rasi along with Chandra and Sukra. Ketu is located in the 12th Sign from Guru. The planets Chandra and Sukra both are females, Ketu is Mokshakaraka. Here, in the beginning the native will come across many beautiful ladies. He will be troubled by these ladies. Finally, he will run away from these ladies and takes Sanyasa, because Guru is running towards Ketu in retrogression.

Ex 3:

In the above chart, Sani is in retrogression in Tula Rasi. In the 2nd sign from Sani, Kuja is located. In the 12th Sign, Guru is located. Kuja is dead enemy of Sani. Guru is a friendly planet for Sani. Sani is a Karma-karaka, the significator of profession. Here, the native suffers from enemy harassment in professional career (Kuja is a karaka for enemies). Sani in retrogression approaches Guru for help, therefore the native overcomes the difficulties with the help of a friend.

Ex 4:

In the above chart, Guru is in retrogression in Tula Rasi. In the 2nd Sign from Guru, Rahu is located in Vrischika. In the 12th Sign from Guru, Surya is located in Kanya.
